The official history of the geographic name North Shore (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

The Community of North Shore was incorporated in 1974. Contains the Localities of Covehead, Covehead Road, Dalvay by the Sea (part of), Stanhope, Stanhope Bayshore, Stanhope by the Sea, and West Covehead.
