Southport (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925.Status changed to Ha mlet in 1960 Gazetteer.Status changed to Locality when it became part of the C ommunity of Southport in 1972.Southport (Locality) became part of the Town of Stratford on 1 April 1995.Name confirmed 17 June 1996 on 11 L/3. Appears on an 1845 chart.
