History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Suffolk (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Suffolk (Sett., P.O.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Suffolk (Sett.) was confirmed 12 December 1939 on 11L/6 at 46 19 - 63 03. Status changed to Station in 1960 Gazetteer.Suffolk moved to 46 20 - 63 04 and status changed to Sett. 18 November 1966 on 11L/6a.Status changed to Locality 23 October 1989 on 203-8. Named by settlers from Suffolk, England who arrived 1824-1840. - PN of PEI, 1925.
