History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Union Corner (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Union Corner (P.O.) was opened 1 June 1898 and closed 31 December 1914. Union Corner (Sett.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925. Confirmed 2 August 1944 on 11L/5.Status changed to Locality in 1960 Gazetteer.Status confirmed as Locality 23 October 1989 on 203-8. "The name was originally given to a school district because the school was built with the goodwill of everyone."- Place Names of PEI, 1925.
