History of the Name

The official history of the geographic name Winsloe (which can be somewhat technical, we admit):

Winsloe (Sett., P.O.) was adopted in Place Names of PEI, 1925.Confirmed as a S ettlement 12 December 1939 on 11L/6.Status changed to Locality when Winsloe be came part of the Community of Winsloe in 1971.Winsloe (Locality) became part o f Charlottetown on 1 April 1995. Confirmed 17 June 1996 on 11 L/6. Named for John Hodges Winsloe, an owner of land in mid-1800s - Geographical Name s of PEI, 1973.
