Council of the Federation Vancouver 2011
Council of the Federation 2011 in Vancouver, BC:
Premier Robert Ghiz will be representing Prince Edward Island at the upcoming meeting of the Council of the Federation in Vancouver. Discussion on the upcoming renewal of federal transfers to the provinces will be a top priority for Premier Ghiz at the meetings, as well as support for health care and social services.
On Thursday, July 21, discussions will focus on families and family health. Premiers will also discuss jobs and the economy, including a strategy for Canada in the global economy. On Friday, July 22, discussions will center on innovation and sustainability in health care. Premiers will also discuss disaster mitigation assistance in light of recent flooding and other disasters in many areas of Canada. A closing news conference is scheduled for Friday, July 22, in Vancouver.
