Atlantic Canada Premiers Host Mission to the United States – February 6-8, 2012

Premier's Office

Premier Robert Ghiz of Prince Edward Island is leading a trade team mission to Atlanta, Georgia, focusing on trade sectors of aerospace and defence, information technology, life sciences, agri-food, seafood and oceans.

The P.E.I. companies that will be attending the mission are 3 Points Machining and Aerospace, Discovery Garden, ViTRAK Systems Inc., and Wiebal Aerospace.

“This trade mission will link Atlantic Canadian business leaders with Atlanta’s capacities in manufacturing, research and life sciences,” said Premier Ghiz. “The Island companies participating in the mission will be able to meet with possible business partners in Georgia through a matchmaking program.”

The mission is an initiative of the Council of Atlantic Premiers. Premier Ghiz together with Premier David Alward of New Brunswick, Premier Kathy Dunderdale of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Premier Darrell Dexter of Nova Scotia will lead a delegation of over 20 Atlantic Canadian business leaders. The premiers and their delegations will showcase how companies in Atlantic Canada can quickly and efficiently supply companies in Georgia with the goods and services they need, as well as promoting the attributes and strategies of Atlantic provinces relating to their location, entrepreneurial leadership and expertise, skilled labour, and export opportunities. Together, they aim to strengthen and enhance trade partnerships between the four Atlantic provinces and Georgia.

The mission will take place on February 6 - 8, 2012.

The Council of Atlantic Premiers is committed to identifying and pursuing regional opportunities that will benefit Atlantic Canadians as well as the joint promotion of the Atlantic region on the national and international stages.
