U.S. Consul General visits province
Premier's Office
“Expanding export markets and investment opportunities are key to strengthening the provincial economy,” said Premier Ghiz. “The United States is our most important export market, and I look forward to discussions on how we can improve access to that market.”
During his two-day visit to Prince Edward Island this week, Mr. Riley will make courtesy calls to Government House and Charlottetown City Hall. He will also meet with officials at the University of Prince Edward Island and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Along with meetings with officials of the provincial government, the Consul General will meet with Keith Lambe, President of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. He will be returning to Halifax on Friday afternoon.
Premier Ghiz said the visit by the Consul General will provide an opportunity to discuss how to improve tourism visitation throughout the region.
The United States accounts for more than two-thirds of Prince Edward Island’s exports to international markets.
