A news conference on Saturday, July 5, 2008 outlined investments of over $7.6 million in Charlottetown facilities for the 2009 Canada Games. (Left to right) Wade MacLauchlan, President of UPEI; Wayne Carew, Vice-President of the 2009 Canada Games Host Society; Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee; the Honourable Robert Ghiz, Premier of Prince Edward Island; and Patrick Dorsey, Vice-President of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency look at site plans for the new $6.8 million state-of-the-art Athletics Facility that is currently under construction on the UPEI campus. The Athletics Facility will host almost 50 track and field events during the second week of the Games.
