Get the flu shot, not the flu

Islanders are encouraged to receive their flu shot as it is the most effective way to help prevent the spread of influenza.

Flu clinics are being held in various communities across Prince Edward Island with some extended hours available as needed.

The Department of Health and Wellness provides the Influenza vaccine free of charge to physicians' offices, provincial health centres, public health immunization clinics and pharmacies; however, as in past years, a fee may be charged to cover the cost of administering the vaccine by some providers.

A centralized toll-free phone number and booking system are in place to make it easier for Islanders to schedule an appointment.

To receive the vaccine in a community nearest you, please call 1-855-354-4358 (4FLU) to schedule an appointment. Effective Monday, October 6, 2014, the phone line hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Messages may be left after hours, and calls will be returned the following business day.
