Be your best you in 2016
The trees are at the curb, the last of the plum pudding out with the compost and the Visa bill is in the mailbox.
Now what? As we stare down a few months of winter, why not work on improving yourself so that when the snow melts you will be your best self? There are lots of self-improvement opportunities for Provincial government employees to take advantage of through work.
The best employees are healthy and happy – mental and physical health in the workplace is essential to a great public service.
Whether you want to lose weight, get active, quit smoking, improve your relationships or spend more time outdoors, there are lots of resources to help.
For example, the Weight Watchers at Work group meets every Monday at noon in the media room in the basement of Shaw South.
The group is up to 19 members who get discounted rates and enjoy the support of co-workers to reach their goals. A Weight Watchers representative comes in weekly with her scale and presents a regular meeting for the group. Want to join? Contact Margaret Simpson at 368-4140 or email email@example.com.
If you’re looking for ways to move your body more, or to get outside and fill your lungs with crisp winter air go!PEI has lots of programs, activities and challenges to take part in, such as an indoor walking club. For more information on this highly successful government group go to www.gopei.ca
Brookvale Winter Activity Park, located in the central part of Queens County, has lots of fun activities for winter enthusiasts of all ages, including x-country and alpine skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. Check out the website at www.tourismpei.com/brookvale-activity-park or follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for conditions and events.
Sometimes learning something new can really recharge your batteries.
