Work, Help and Love for the Babies

The Wo-He-Lo Club started 84 years ago in 1933 with members devoted to the motto of work, help and love and one goal - to raise funds to purchase needed nursery equipment for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (and formerly the Prince Edward Island Hospital). The club is made up of never more than 25.

Every spring and fall, members call on a network of donors for gently-used clothing, accessories, footwear and even a few books.

The sale resembles Black Friday sales. There are line ups waiting for the doors to open. Over the course of the three-day sale, thousands take advantage of the quality items at bargain prices.

Helen Blake is a classification consultant with the Public Service Commission. She is pictured here in a beautiful gown purchased at the fall clothing sale.

"I had secret shoppers working at the sale," said Blake. "They saw the dress and knew it was for me.
In fact, I wore it to Christmas dinner."

The 2016 Fall and Winter sale raised $29,877.30. Proceeds are donated to the QEH Foundation for equipment in the QEH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
