PEI Child Sexual Abuse Advisory CommitteeSince 1986, the Province of Prince Edward Island has been focusing its attention on the issue of child sexual abuse in an effort to raise public awareness and to enhance the level of service provided to child victims of sexual abuse and their families.
The Provincial Child Sexual Abuse Advisory Committee was formed in 1991 with representatives from government and community. The mandate of the committee is to promote a coordinated, informed, cooperative, and collaborative response to child sexual abuse, and to promote public awareness and prevention strategies to reduce the prevalence of child sexual abuse in Prince Edward Island.
The Provincial Child Sexual Abuse Advisory Committee has developed an inventory of counselling services that are available to survivors of sexual abuse. The document with 2013 updates can be seen here.
