Seniors' Drug Cost Assistance Program
Where can I find information about the seniors drug cost assistance plan?Who is eligible?
- Persons 65 years of age and older, and;
- Persons must be eligible for PEI Medicare.
What are the benefits of the program?
- Program provides subsidization to seniors for drug costs, particularly those costs associated with long-term drug use for chronic conditions.
How do I apply?
- Residents are automatically eligible at age 65.
How does the program work?
- Drugs are provided through retail pharmacies across PEI;
- Seniors pay the first $11 in medication cost ($8.25 as of September 1st) and the professional fee and the program covers the rest of the cost of the prescription;
- Coverage is not retroactive and eligibility ends the day of departure from PEI to take up residency elsewhere.
