The new Highway Safety Division website launched this week to coincide with National Road Safety Week, taking place May 14-20, 2013. The new site promotes awareness of safe driving practices and includes information on driver education, licensing, motor vehicle registration and inspections.
May is Motorcycle Safety Month and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is reminding Islanders to be extra alert as motorcycle enthusiasts take to Island roads.
Effective May 1, 2013, owners of salvage vehicles must have an inspection conducted on their vehicle before any repairs can be completed. Salvage vehicle inspections are available at qualified auto body stations across the province.
New large, black-and-yellow, reflective signs will be placed along Prince Edward Island roads reminding Islanders to call 911 to report impaired drivers will help take dangerous drivers off Island roads.The new signs will be posted in both English and French.
A Class 4 driver's license is required to drive 15-passenger vans on Prince Edward Island. Applicants must pass written and practical tests and an approved medical must be submitted before a Class 4 license can be issued.
