Confederation Trail

The maintenance of the Confederation Trail network across Prince Edward Island is carried out by the Highway Maintenance Division.

    Components of this maintenance include:
    • vegetation control
    • gate maintenance
    • signage and marking
    • drainage systems
    • bridges and causeways
    • fencing
    • materials
    • user amenities maintenance
    • all other Trail needs as required

There are approximately 366 kilometers of developed trail, as well as 94 kilometers of undeveloped trail.

Provincial Trail maintenance operations are divided into 3 zones and managed by a zone supervisor in Georgetown, Charlottetown and Summerside. There are approximately 120 kilometers of trail each of these zones.
