Driving Schools
Highway Safety is responsible for licensing and monitoring of commercial driving schools and instructors. There are eleven driver education schools, two truck/bus driving schools and 41 driving instructors.
The driver education school instructors are responsible for testing of drivers for class 5 drivers’ licences. The schools conduct approximately 2800 knowledge and behind-the-wheel tests.
Truck-driver training schools are governed not only under the Highway Traffic Act, but also by a regulatory system under the Private Training Schools Act, administered by the Department of Education.The Procedures and Qualifications Required to Apply for Driving School Instructor's Licenses, the Procedures to Apply for a Driving School License are available online.
