Gas Tax (GT)

The original Federal-Provincial Gas Tax Agreement was announced in February 2005. It outlined how local governments in PEI would receive a total of $37.5 million over the next five years.

In 2009, the Province signed an extension to the Gas Tax Agreement, securing an additional $60 million to be distributed from 2010/11 to 2013/14.

The Gas Tax Extension Funding is divided into three components:

Official opening of new Miltonvale Park
wastewater system

Incorporated Communities providing Sewer/Water Services

Community and Capacity Building Fund (CCBF)

Provincial Municipal Services (Roads & Bridges)

Outcomes Report: Provision of the Gas Tax Fund and Public Transit Fund
