“This plate allows us as a province to give veterans recognition for the sacrifices they have made,” said Minister Biggar.
The new plate design was developed after requests from Prince Edward Island veteran’s groups. It will depict an Island flag and a Canada flag along with four poppies and three red maple leaves as well as the word “VETERAN” across the bottom, and will more closely mirror the current license plate in use on Prince Edward Island.
Canadian veterans are persons that have served or are serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, the armed forces of another Commonwealth country or of a wartime ally of Canada or another Commonwealth country, as well as RCMP who have served on United Nations missions. This also includes the Merchant Navy, Ferry Command, NATO service or United Nations missions.
The new veteran’s license plate will be available for anyone meeting the requirements for veteran status. It will be available in both passenger vehicle and motorcycle sizes.
Previous versions of the veteran’s plate will still be valid and replacement with the new design is voluntary for veterans.

Production will begin soon and the plates will be available at any Access PEI office beginning in early December.
