1853 A vicious nor'easter drives 13 American vessels from their anchors and beats them ashore at Cascumpeque. There is no loss of life, but five of the schooners are wrecked.

Spills from leaking oil tanks can be a serious threat to groundwater. A properly inspected and tagged oil tank must be inplace before home heating oil will be delivered on Prince Edward Island.
