 Today in Island History

On July 25 in Island history...

1855 Donald MacDonald of Tracadie, an intensely unpopular proprietor, is shot down by unknown assailants as he leaves the gate of his estate. "So detested was he," an English visitor later records, "that several persons passed by without rendering him any assistance." MacDonald survives.
