On February 28 in Island history...

1818 General Edmund Fanning, former lieutenant governor of Prince Edward Island, dies in retirement in London. Critics thought him lazy, weak, even stupid, yet he triumphantly survived 18 years in the rat-pit of Island politics. 1873 A men's choral society is organized. It is intended to be "free of sectarian bias."
