On August 2 in Island history...

1875 The Examiner has a real fish story. Off New London, a huge tuna fights fisherman John Pidgeon for the same mackerel. The tuna wins. It flies completely over the boat, striking Pidgeon on the shoulder, and carries off the gunwale on the opposite side.
