On October 27 in Island history...

1780 Dr. John Clarke (a Harvard man) and Surveyor General Thomas Wright, use a two-foot- long reflecting telescope to observe a solar eclipse from PEI. Their observations are forwarded to the American Academy of Art and Sciences.
