 Today in Island History

On November 1 in Island history...

1918 The ban on public assemblies, imposed in mid-October to try and stem a deadly influenza epicemic, is in lifted in Charlottetown. Out of 900 flu cases reported in Charlottetown alone, 100 are dead. By the time the epidemic runs its course on the Island, the death toll will be close to 400.
