The Province of Prince Edward Island, though the Department of Tourism and Culture, is working to educate the public about the importance of preserving the past for future generations.The Provincial Heritage Fair is a grand celebration of Canada's heritage, in the form of student history projects. Students in Grades 5 to 9 have an opportunity to explore the history of their families, their communities, their province, their country.
Historic properties in Prince Edward Island may be recognized as heritage places under the Heritage Places Protection Act. Historic properties in Prince Edward Island may be recognized as either registered or designated places. Visit the Heritage Places page for information on having a heritage place recognized.
Recognized heritage places are listed on the PEI Historic Places and the Canadian Register of Historic Places websites.
