| Bar Clam Hunt Darren MacKinnon |
Clamming, PEI style! The day begins by sailing out of the Souris marina out to the bar clam beds. Once there we don the wet suits, masks, snorkels and hop into the water and begin the hunt for the oversized clam. When we fill up our pot we head into the beach for an old-fashioned cook-out. While the clams are cooking, you can walk the beach or take some pictures of the seal that inhabit the area. When our bellies are filled we head back to the boat and do a little deep-sea fishing, upon completing we will fillet and bag them for you to take home. then it is off to truly get an understanding of how some of wonderful sea food makes it to the dinner plate. We haul up some lobster, crab traps and a mussel sock and explain how they all work. Finally the trip is finished up with a relaxing sail up to Little Harbour and take some pictures of the whales, tuna and seals playing in the area. Then it is time to head back to the harbour. All gear provided as well as refreshments and snacks. | 902-969-7727 or 1-902-687-1317 website Category: Nature/Outdoors |

| Beachin' It Tracey Saarloos |
Hop aboard a boat and be steamed along the amazing coastline of the southern shores of eastern PEI. Captain Darren MacKinnon, owner of Paradise on the Sea Adventures, will greet you at the docks located right off our deck, and shuttle you to his 45-ft. fishing vessel, Pair-a-Dice, for the ultimate beach getaway. Today you will enjoy the breathtaking sights of the rugged shoreline as you steam to eastern PEI's most famous beach, Basin Head. You can join kids of all ages, jumping off a bridge into the warm waters below. You will then be taken ashore in a 16-ft. motorized dory, where you can dip into the ocean or walk the 'singing sands' in search of the ocean's treasures that have been washed up over the years. After a half-hour on this beach, you will be shuttled back to the boat and head for both Red Point, which is also a provincial park, and then to Little Harbour beach, famous for its 'sand dollars'. You will have the opportunity to spend time at each beach, or simply enjoy the view from the boat as you watch others enjoy the crystal blue waters of PEI. After the last beach has been explored you will begin your trip back. Upon arriving you will help prepare and feast on steamed mussels. What a better way to end the day than with fresh food, served overlooking the beautiful town of Souris. | 1-888-687-4314, 687-4314 website Category: Nature/Outdoors |
