A Delicious Catch: PEI Style
Tony MacDonald
Fish off the red cliffs and white sandy beaches and watch the sun rise over the Gulf of St. Lawrence. You will hook the bouys, haul lobster traps and put more bait in the traps before setting them out again. Every trap has a different story. You may see seals, dolphins and a bald eagle, as well as numerous other fishing boats. Pick two lobsters and we will cook them at the wharf for you or you can take them home. Fishing gear is supplied as well as beverages and snacks. 902-969-7735 or 1-902-357-2207

Beachin' It
Tracey Saarloos
Hop aboard a boat and be steamed along the amazing coastline of the southern shores of eastern PEI. Captain Darren MacKinnon, owner of Paradise on the Sea Adventures, will greet you at the docks located right off our deck, and shuttle you to his 45-ft. fishing vessel, Pair-a-Dice, for the ultimate beach getaway. Today you will enjoy the breathtaking sights of the rugged shoreline as you steam to eastern PEI's most famous beach, Basin Head. You can join kids of all ages, jumping off a bridge into the warm waters below. You will then be taken ashore in a 16-ft. motorized dory, where you can dip into the ocean or walk the 'singing sands' in search of the ocean's treasures that have been washed up over the years. After a half-hour on this beach, you will be shuttled back to the boat and head for both Red Point, which is also a provincial park, and then to Little Harbour beach, famous for its 'sand dollars'. You will have the opportunity to spend time at each beach, or simply enjoy the view from the boat as you watch others enjoy the crystal blue waters of PEI. After the last beach has been explored you will begin your trip back. Upon arriving you will help prepare and feast on steamed mussels. What a better way to end the day than with fresh food, served overlooking the beautiful town of Souris. 1-888-687-4314, 687-4314

Diggin' on the Bar
Tracey Saarloos

You have found them... PEI clams! Whether it's soft-shell 'squirt' clams, the razors or the bar clams, you are about to embark on one of the greatest experiences in the world... one like no other. Watch as a professional clammer shows you how to find the buried treasure. Find the hole to dig, but not too close to the hole, dig on an angle, dig deep and fast. You are sure to gaze in awe as you set your eyes on one of these delicious treats. Fill your bucket and head for shore. A fire will be ready, pots will be filled and clams will be steamed. Grab a drink, sit on the deck and watch the sun set over the peaceful waters of PEI. 1-888-687-4314 or 1-902-687-4314
