Temporary Change in Physician Coverage for Out-patient Services at Stewart Memorial Hospital and Tyne Valley Health Centre for October

The public is advised that there will be temporary changes in physician coverage for out-patient services at Stewart Memorial Hospital and Tyne Valley Health Centre effective October 3.

“The temporary change in physician coverage will allow our dedicated physicians the chance to take time off during the month of October,” said Gayle Lamont, Administrator for Stewart Memorial Hospital. “It is important for us to manage our human resources in a manner that both respects staff and ensures minimal interruption of service to Islanders. We are committed to providing quality health care to the residents of Tyne Valley and are appreciative of the staff and physicians who work together to ensure the provision of quality services.”

During the month of October, physician coverage for out-patient services at Stewart Memorial Hospital and clinic hours at Tyne Valley Health Centre will be available as follows:

Stewart Memorial Hospital – out-patient services

• October 1, 2, 5, 7, 13, 15, 16, 19 - 22, 27 and 28: 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. (out-patient services)

• October 6, 17, 18, 24 and 25: 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. (out-patient services)

• October 8: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (out-patient services)

• Full in-patient coverage for the month of October.

Tyne Valley Health Centre

• October 1, 2, 5, 7, 13, 15, 16, 19 - 22, 27 and 28: 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. (scheduled appointments and walk-in clinic)

• October 6: 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. (scheduled appointments and walk-in clinic)

• October 8, 17, 18, 24 and 25: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (scheduled appointments and walk-in clinic)

The general public should note that there will be no physician coverage for out-patient services at Stewart Memorial Hospital or walk-in clinic at Tyne Valley Health Centre for October 3, 4, 9 through 12, 14, 23 and 26. Persons requiring non-urgent care are encouraged to seek services at Urgent Care Centre in O’Leary or walk-in clinic at the Superstore in Summerside (Monday - Saturday). Emergency services in West Prince will remain fully operational and the public should continue to seek services especially in critical, emergency situations through the Western Hospital in Alberton or the Prince County Hospital in Summerside.

The Department of Health and physicians and staff of Stewart Memorial Hospital and Tyne Valley Health Centre are committed to providing quality health care to the residents of Tyne Valley area and regret any inconvenience this may cause.
