Road projects announced for Island communities

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal

The first round of projects announced for the 2015 construction season will improve the safety and efficiency on roads across Prince Edward Island, says Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Robert Vessey.

“Investing in roads helps to keep the travelling public safe while ensuring the efficient and safe transportation of goods across our province,” said the minister. “These investments also help to maintain and create jobs here in Prince Edward Island.”

The first round of tenders includes eight highway resurfacing or reconstruction projects. A second round of tenders will be announced in the coming weeks.

Projects include:

Route 1 - Charlottetown – Resurfacing 1.6 km

Route 2 - Tracadie – Resurfacing and road widening 1.6 km

Route 2 - Miscouche – Resurfacing 3.4 km

Route 2 - Carleton/Woodstock – Resurfacing 3.0 km

Route 2 - Portage – Resurfacing 0.9 km

Route 4 - Brudenell/Montague – Resurfacing 1.8 km

Route 6 - Clinton – Resurfacing and shoulder widening 3.5 km

Route 15 & 220 - Brackley – Horizontal and vertical realignment 0.5 km
