Statement from Office of Attorney General

Environment, Labour and Justice

On Saturday, April 4, pursuant to the Police Act, Prince Edward Island Attorney General Janice Sherry appointed Ron MacDonald to lead the investigation into the serious incident involving a Charlottetown Police Officer that occurred at the Charlottetown Mall on Friday, April 3, 2015. Ron MacDonald is the Director of the Serious Incident Response Team in Nova Scotia.

This appointment has been made to ensure the investigation is conducted in a transparent and independent manner. Summerside Police are engaged in the investigation under the direction of MacDonald.

Ron MacDonald will file a findings report with the Attorney General upon completion of the investigation.
