Lights Signal Open House

Lieutenant Governor's Office

Christmas trees are lighted, the decorations have been hung with care and the fires will again be blazing for the annual Government House Christmas open house. Their Honours the Honourable H. Frank Lewis, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island and Mrs. Dorothy Lewis have turned on the Christmas lights at Fanningbank as a signal that all are welcome to share in the glow of Christmas spirit.

The open house, a tradition that dates back many years to allow Islanders to view the beautiful decorations inside the official vice-regal residence, will be held on Monday, December 7 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

For the second year, decorating was completed under the direction of Ms. Shelly Campbell, curator of the Bideford Parsonage Museum, aided by Mrs. Lewis and Government House staff. There is always something new in the arrangements that even regular visitors of all ages will enjoy. The open house is free of charge.

Their Honours are grateful that live music will again be provided in the afternoon by the Canada Remembers Chorus singing seasonal favorites. Evening music is from the Teachers in Harmony and Friends Choir.

The public is reminded that parking on the grounds is limited. People with mobility issues may be driven to the access ramp on the east verandah before parking. The viewing areas for the decorations are accessible.
