Ignition Fund deadline approaching

Innovation PEI

The deadline for applications to the Ignition Fund is Friday, July 29, 2016. This support offers up to $25,000 through Innovation PEI to launch or expand a business in Prince Edward Island. With this investment of seed capital, entrepreneurs can develop their ideas into tangible and viable businesses.

‘The fund is proving popular again this year as evidenced by the number of participants attending Ignition fund information sessions across the province this past spring,” noted Economic Development and Tourism Minister Heath MacDonald. “The Ignition Fund helps new and expanding companies when that help is needed most; in the early stages of development. Government is committed to encouraging entrepreneurship which leads to enhanced exports, new jobs, and a strong provincial economy. Qualifying applicants will be startup businesses or entrepreneurs who are committed to establishing and operating a new business in Prince Edward Island. The products or services must also have the potential to be sold outside of the province.

“Through the valuable support of the Ignition Fund, I was able to take my business concept from idea to implementation,” said mental performance consultant Tara Costello of Ahead in the Game, one of the 2015 Ignition Fund grant recipients.
