Province Affirms Directions On VLTS

Provincial Treasury

Provincial Treasurer Pat Mella stated today the government has no intentions of changing present restrictions on video lottery terminals and the province does not support the placement of a large numbers of additional video lottery terminals at the Charlottetown Racetrack.

Minister Mella stated that, "Government has not received an official request to approve additional VLTs at the CDP." However, the Minister wishes to affirm government's directions on VLTs today by saying, "We took VLTs out of corner stores and we do not support the placement of large number of VLT machines at the raceway."

The Minister continues to emphasize that the government does support the harness racing industry and is prepared to work with people from the industry, and the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, to ensure the continued growth of harness racing.
