Season Premiere of Island Focus To Air October 25, 2000

This season's premiere broadcast of ISLAND FOCUS is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25, 8:00 pm on EastLink Community Television (Channel 10). Island Focus is the provincial government's community outreach television program that features the people, places and programs of Prince Edward Island.

Gerry Birt returns as host of the program. Again this year, he and the ISLAND FOCUS crew will journey into farming communities, small businesses, fishing villages, artisan studios and other places of interest to provide a glimpse into Island life and families from one end of the province to the other.

The October 25th broadcast of ISLAND FOCUS will include stories about the Mi'kmaq Cultural Centre in Lennox Island; the development of Greenwich in St. Peter's; the province's growing craft industry; septic system maintenance; soil erosion on slopes; an historical look at the Famous 5 as well as a special segment to celebrate Agriculture and Food Month, Field to Table.

Weekly FOCUS TRIVIA winners have the chance to win a basket of quality food and beverage products provided by members of the PEI Food and Beverage Processor's Association from across the province. Grand prize to take place December 15, 2000.

Beginning October 25th, ISLAND FOCUS airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on EastLink Community Television (Channel 10). Visit the ISLAND FOCUS website at www.gov.pe.ca/focus to monitor the weekly program guide, view segments on-line, enter weekly trivia contests and send feedback about the program.
