100th Episode of Island Focus

Provincial Treasury

The 100th episode of Island Focus will broadcast next week, Monday, January 13, 7:30 p.m. on EastLink Television. Island Focus is the provincial government's community outreach television program featuring the people, places and programs of Prince Edward Island.

This milestone broadcast will be hosted from the Confederation Centre Library, with host Gerry Birt interviewing Prince Edward Island's newly appointed poet laureate, Dr. John Smith. Stories for the week focus on career development with a two-part look at tourism and hospitality curriculums in Island high schools, introducing students to real life and real careers using the Real GameTM, and fostering an information technology (IT) mind set among students at Westisle High School using a robotics program.

The 2003 grand prize for Focus Trivia is an Ashiko drum from Ruckus Percussion of Cardigan, Prince Edward Island. The winner of the 2002 grand prize draw of a piece of handcrafted pottery from Stanley Pottery is Edna Watts of York. Viewers of Island Focus are invited to submit trivia answers for the chance to win weekly prizes as well as the grand prize. The grand prize draw will take place April 24, 2003 and be announced during the season finale broadcast.

Island Focus airs Mondays at 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. on EastLink Television. Viewers are invited to visit the Island Focus website at www.gov.pe.ca/focus to monitor the weekly program guide, view segments on-line, enter weekly trivia contests and send feedback about the program.
