Prince Edward Home Closed to Visitors as a Precaution

Chief Health Officer Dr. Lamont Sweet announced that, effective today, the Prince Edward Home is closed to visitors due to several cases of influenza-like illnesses in the facility.

“This is simply a precautionary measure,” Dr. Sweet notes. “There have been some residents and staff with influenza-like symptoms over the past four weeks; but five residents and three staff have become ill since yesterday with these symptoms, so the facility is closing to visitors.

There have been no deaths among residents who had flu-like symptoms in the Prince Edward Home over the last four weeks. Relatives who need to visit a resident are asked to call the Prince Edward Home before visiting.
