MacAdam Pays Tribute to Harrison McCain

Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture & Forestry

Prince Edward Island Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Forestry Minister Kevin MacAdam today paid tribute to the late Harrison McCain, who died last week.

“On behalf of the Government of Prince Edward Island, we honour the memory of a man who has made a lasting contribution to this region, to this country and to the world,” said Mr. MacAdam. “His vision and energy has demonstrated that no matter where you are from, there are endless possibilities to achieve success. The life of Harrison McCain is an inspiration to all.”

Mr. MacAdam said that McCain Foods is a world leader in the potato industry, and has helped the industry grow and prosper. As the leading producer of french fries in the world, he said McCain Foods has helped to popularize potatoes and that has resulted in new markets for producers. He said the company reflected the values and integrity of its founders.

“While Harrison McCain achieved great success, he remained a person of great humility and respect for others,” said Mr. MacAdam. “He was forever true to his roots and to the people of his community.”

Mr. MacAdam said the passing of Mr. McCain represents a great loss to all Canadians, but it will be in his home where he will be missed the most. “I want to extend our sincerest sympathies to his family during this very difficult time,” he said.

Mr. MacAdam will be attending the funeral service in Florenceville on Tuesday.
