Giving Trees...Giving Hope

Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture & Forestry

On Saturday morning May 15, the Provincial Forest program and the Canadian Breast Cancer Network (CBCN) are launching a unique project designed to beautify the Island while raising funds for breast cancer awareness activities.

The inaugural “Giving Trees . . .Giving Hope” event will be held in St. Patrick’s Road on Route #322 near St. Teresa. For a donation to CBCN’s awareness efforts, Islanders will be able to transplant a variety of Acadian Forest trees, shrubs, and plants to landscape their homes and properties. A series of topical lectures will also held at the Peake’s Tee Restaurant in St. Teresa’s on “The Value of Native Trees and Shrubs to Island Wildlife,” “Successful Transplanting & Care of Native Trees and Shrubs,” and “Identifying and Using Acadian Forest Plants.”

Green fees at the Peake’s Tee golf course for that day will also be donated to the CBCN.
