Community Development Fund Supports Affordable Housing For Evangeline Area

Development and Technology

The Community Development Fund will make a contribution toward an affordable housing project for the Evangeline area of the province. The announcement was made today by Development and Technology Minister Mike Currie.

The project is being developed by La Cooperative Le Bel Age. It will consist of a 14 unit apartment building which will be constructed in the Wellington area.

“Affordable housing is a concern for people in this area and I am very pleased to receive the support of the Community Development Bureau,” said Wilfred Arsenault, MLA for Evangeline-Miscouche. “This development will ensure that people – especially our seniors – will be able to afford to stay in this area if they wish to do so. It will be a great boost to a region that is strong in community spirit and identity,” he said.

The complex will include 8 single bedrooms apartments and 6 two bedroom units. All apartments will be barrier free and two of the 14 apartments will be fully accessible to residents with physical challenges.

Total cost of the project is $998,000. The Community Development Fund will contribute $60,000.
