Agriculture Leadership Program Begins This Fall

Agriculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture & Forestry

Anne Boswall, vice-chair of the board of the Atlantic Agricultural Leadership Program, announced today the offering of a new class of its program beginning in November. “At no time in its history has the agriculture industry had a greater need for leadership,” said Boswall. “This leadership program prepares emerging leaders to confidently and courageously grow our industry.”

The Atlantic Agricultural Leadership Program (formerly the New Brunswick Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program) consists of eight three-day seminars held in various locations in Atlantic Canada over an 18-month period. In addition, students take two international study tours to meet and interact with leaders and to observe leading edge business and production practices.

“The program attracts individuals working in the agriculture and agri-food sectors who want to help shape the future of their industry rather than just react to it,” said Judy Luton, executive director of the non-profit organization. “Participants develop solid leadership skills, learn how various forces influence the industry and meet key leaders from Canada and beyond.”

Prince Edward Island graduates of the program include Anne Boswall, Jeff DeHaan, Chris Dunbar, Suzanne MacNeill and Janice Whalen.

Individuals from Prince Edward Island interested in the program should contact the office at 506-459-0965 or download an application from the program’s Web site www.agleaders.ca. The deadline for applications to the program is September 20.
