“I was deeply saddened to hear the news of the loss of four brave RCMP Officers in the line of duty on Thursday, March 3. I wish to express my sincere condolences to the families who have lost loved ones through this tragedy and to the RCMP family across the country who grieve for their fellow brothers.

“Our RCMP officers are a valued and dedicated part of the Canadian justice community. We look to the RCMP and its officers to protect our families, our communities, our borders and our country. The RCMP has long been a symbol of our freedom and the security we have come to enjoy as Canadian citizens.

“As our National Police Force, the RCMP continue to guide Canadians and protect fundamental Canadian values.

“The bravery and dedication of the four young officers lost yesterday will be forever remembered by all Canadians as symbols of the RCMP role in our protection and upholding our laws.
