Bread Company Opens in Borden-Carleton
Development and Technology
“We are pleased to welcome Snairs Golden Grain to Borden-Carleton, PEI,” said Premier Pat Binns. “As a province we are open and ready to do business. The decision for this kind of business to locate here illustrates the advantages this province offers.”
Snairs Golden Grain, a commercial bread company, has an excellent reputation for its Snairs bread brand products which have been sold in Nova Scotia grocery stores for over half a century. Proximity to the bridge will give the company access to key export markets.
“To remain competitive in the bread industry, we realized we would need more production space and some new pieces of equipment to operate at a higher capacity,” said Greg Snair. “Relocating to PEI has been a positive experience for Snairs and that is in large part due to the support we have received from the provincial government.”
“Snairs has been a valuable business which has been operating now for more than 60 years,” said Minister Currie. “Borden-Carleton made the best business sense for the company. We are pleased to support their business ventures in PEI, not only are they affording employment opportunities in PEI, but they are contributing to the growth of our provincial economy.”
