PEI to Host 2006 Atlantic 911 Conference
Community and Cultural Affairs
The conference is open to members of all emergency service organizations within the Atlantic provinces. The goal of the conference is to provide delegates with an opportunity to share information, participate in educational sessions and develop solutions to common challenges.
“These conferences offer valuable opportunities for 911 professionals to exchange information and discuss how 911 services can remain current and continue to improve in the Atlantic Region,” said Minister MacFadyen. “We look forward to hosting 911 professionals from throughout Atlantic Canada in Summerside in 2006.”
The conference program will include presentations and workshops on 911 operations, challenges and opportunities. The two-day conference will also include various networking opportunities for delegates to meet and share experiences with others in the field.
PEI first hosted the Atlantic 911 Conference in Charlottetown in 2002, attracting more 100 participants. Aliant Telecom was a major sponsor of this event, which proved to be very successful.
The concept of annual Atlantic 911 conferences was initiated by Nova Scotia in 2001 when the first event was hosted in Halifax.
