Development and Technology

Hon. Mike Currie, Minister of Development and Technology, today announced funding for two community development projects, the Centennial Recreational Centre in Miscouche and the Fort Augustus Recreational Club.

Minister Currie, on behalf of District 24 (Evangeline-Miscouche) MLA Wilfred Arsenault, announced the Centennial Recreational Centre will receive $5,492 to complete energy-saving renovations to the ceiling of the facility, as well as upgrades to the kitchen service area.

On behalf of Hon. Mildred Dover, Minister of Education and MLA for District 8 (Tracadie-Fort Augustus), Minister Currie announced $10,000 for Phase I of renovations to the Fort Augustus Rec Centre. The funding will be used for the installation of new flooring, as well as renovations to the kitchen service area and other upgrades.

“The Community Development Fund continues to be a tremendous program that assists communities throughout the province and we are pleased to support these two very worthwhile projects,” said Minister Currie. “Our government has prided itself on building a strong partnership with communities and, in the process, keep communities strong and vibrant.”

Since its inception in 1999, the Community Development Bureau has assisted over 200 projects Island wide, helping to leverage over $40 Million in total project funding.
