The Minister stated, “For a number of years now, tourism officials, tourism operators and Islanders have been concerned with the lack of clear signage in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia for those who travel to the Island by motor vehicle. As a result, consultations with the tourism industry and the New Brunswick government towards an agreeable arrangement has produced great results.” New signage is already in place for New Brunswick and discussions with Nova Scotia are still underway.

Honourable Philip Brown noted, “Two new, large directional signs are now erected near the Highway 2 - Route 15 interchange and replace older signs that were in place prior to the advent of the Confederation Bridge.” He added, “The bilingual signage is a significant improvement to the previous smaller signs which often caused confusion to travellers.”

Tourism PEI, the Tourism Advisory Council, Strait Crossing and the Northumberland Ferry continue to work with the sister provinces to improve directional signage, making it easier and easier to access Prince Edward Island for visitors and Islanders alike.
