Ministers Respond to By-Law Enforcement Statements

Office of the Attorney General

Community and Cultural Affairs Minister Elmer MacFadyen and Attorney General Mildred Dover today issued a response to the media reports and comments made by individuals regarding the issue of by-law enforcement.

“Recent reports in the media have given the impression that there may be problems enforcing municipal by-laws,” said Mr. MacFadyen. “I want to reassure Islanders that municipal by-laws across the province can indeed be enforced.”

“Officials from my office have had discussions with the municipalities of Souris, Montague and Georgetown concerning their ticketing process and by-law enforcement,” said Attorney General Mildred Dover. “Along with officials from the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, we will continue to work with these municipalities to address their particular issues.”
