The results are in! After a membership campaign launched during Heritage Week in February, Museum & Heritage Foundation of Prince Edward Island now boasts a total of 50 corporate and 358 individual members, close to triple the number going in.

As part of the membership campaign, complete boxed sets of the Island Magazine library, comprising 58 issues over 30 years, were awarded to ten members drawn at random.

Pictured here supervising the prize draw are (L to R) Eric Riordon, Chair, Membership Committee; Elmer MacFadyen, Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs; and Dr. Satadal Dasgupta, Chair, Board of Governors.

“I extend sincere congratulations to Eric Riordon and the membership committee for their very successful recent membership drive,” said Community and Cultural Affairs Minister Elmer MacFadyen. “Together with revenue generated through admittance fees, government funding and the very generous support of its membership, the Foundation is able to operate and maintain seven museum sites in the province. Island culture is richer thanks to the experiences these sites offer.”

Winners of Island Magazine boxed sets were the following Museum and Heritage members:

H.G. Aitken

Kim Aitken

Barry DeGruchy

Donald & Marion MacKenzie

Maritime Electric

Jean Miller

Doug Morton

Henry and Gertie Purdy

Ruth Statts

Vogue Optical

Eric Riordon, Membership Chair, said “The real winner is our heritage resource here on Prince Edward Island. With this degree of commitment from our members, the task of preserving and celebrating where we came from becomes a more rewarding experience for all of us.”
