Tourism Fall Marketing Initiative Launched Throughout Maritimes

Tourism

Tourism PEI has developed a new fall campaign which is currently underway to showcase Prince Edward Island to the Maritime provinces. The campaign is intended to energize potential travellers to visit the Island over the fall months, taking in all the beautiful colours and diverse visitor experiences there are to be had in autumn.

Prince Edward Island is a beautiful place to be in the fall months and many Islanders will tell you it’s their favourite time of year. Shopping, restaurants, cultural events and festivals are still abundant and the fall harvest brings opportunities for outstanding culinary delights. The weather may not be quite as hot as July and August, but the charm of the Island is still shining through and doors of tourism operations are ready to welcome visitors.

The provincial government is investing $100,000 in a marketing campaign to promote our Island as a travel destination beyond the summer months. “We're spreading the word that the Island has lots to offer in the non-traditional travel months and Maritimers will have opportunities to take advantage of some fantastic package deals,” noted Philip Brown, Minister of Tourism.

The fall marketing campaign, which began the weekend of September 18 and continues until Thanksgiving, runs throughout the maritime region via radio, newspaper and web-based ads. The campaign is aimed at impacting travellers for the fall but provides increased awareness for Prince Edward Island as a vacation destination, providing a longer-term impact as well.

“We want to stay top of mind with travellers,” said the Minister, “and continue to reinforce our presence in the market. We have many external factors working against the travel industry presently and this is a pro-active way of encouraging people to travel to Prince Edward Island.”
