Week 2 Team PEI Athletes Leave for Whitehorse

About 131 athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff will be traveling to Whitehorse, Yukon to participate in week two of the 2007 Canada Winter Games.

The first contingent, consisting of 20 members of the squash and table tennis teams and one mission staff member will be departing by commercial flight from the Charlottetown Airport on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 9:30 a.m.

On Saturday, March 3, 2007, 111 athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff members will be flying out of the Charlottetown Airport on a charter flight, leaving at 5:30 a.m. Athletes, coaches and managers are asked to be at the airport by 4:30 a.m.

The Team PEI mission desk in Whitehorse is open daily from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. pacific standard time (11 a.m. to 4 a.m. PEI time) until Saturday, March 10, 2007. Parents, friends and supporters can send messages to Team PEI members through the Mission Office at the following locations:

Week two athletes will be participating in alpine skiing, artistic gymnastics, boxing, cross country skiing, men’s curling, fencing, figure skating, hockey, squash, table tennis and wheelchair basketball. Two National Artists Program participants from PEI remain in Whitehorse for both weeks of the games.
