Lieutenant Governor Pays Tribute to Volunteers

Lieutenant Governor's Office

In conjunction with National Volunteer Week, April 15 - 21, Her Honour Barbara A. Hagerman paid special tribute today to volunteers who give of themselves to better their communities and the lives of others.

“The theme for this year’s Volunteer Canada Campaign is “Volunteers Grow Community,” and I have witnessed this first hand since I assumed the role of Lieutenant Governor in August 2006. Volunteers work hand in hand with our dedicated staff at Government House to support and deliver programs. I salute you and thank you for your altruistic nature.”

As people search for ways to enrich their lives, many are giving their personal time and skills to the community. While some are looking for new routes to personal development, others want a chance to contribute their energies to helping others; in short, more and more people are considering volunteering. Lieutenant Governor Hagerman encourages those who are presently involved in volunteer activities to continue their generous ways and, at the same time, urges those who are not involved to become active – the rewards are immeasurable.
