‘Enriching Family Relationships’ was the theme of the 2007 Child Welfare workshop that took place in Summerside this week.

This year’s guest speaker, Mary Rella discussed a model of intervention that she has created for working with parents of children in care. Over 150 public servants and community partners attended with discussion focused on how government and community can partner to meet the needs of vulnerable children and their parents.

In PEI, there are presently 87 foster families and more needed. Last year, there were 280 children in the care of foster homes until they could either safely reunite with their parent or establish other lifelong family relationships.
