IT’S LOOKING LIKE A WHITE CHRISTMAS FOR BROOKVALE WINTER ACTIVITY PARK

Tourism

Just in time for the Christmas holidays, the Brookvale Winter Activity Park has opened its cross-country (nordic) trails and toboggan runs and is busy preparing to open to downhill skiers (alpine) next weekend.

“By the looks of things, this winter is shaping up to be a great season for those who like to participate in snow-related activities,” said the Honourable Valerie Docherty, Minister of Tourism. “With all the snow we’ve received lately, we are able to open earlier than we have in the past five years. What a great way for Islanders and visitors to have lots of fun and, at the same time, take part in physical fitness over their Christmas holidays and throughout the winter months.”

The nordic site is open on Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. and Thursdays to Sundays from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The alpine runs will open Friday, December 21, and the hours will be Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., Fridays from 1:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

During the Christmas holidays, the hours will vary. For more information about hours and conditions at the Brookvale, call (902) 658-7861 or www.brookvaleskipark.com

Season passes and ticket books are available at Sporting Intentions on North River Road, Outer Limits in Stratford and Source For Sports in Summerside. They are available at the Park as well.

You can register for ski and snowboard lessons now by calling 902-658-7876. They begin January 5, 2008 and private lessons are available.
