Provincial Golf Courses Open for the Season

Tourism

Prince Edward Island provincial golf courses will open for the season beginning with Brudenell River golf course on Friday, May 9, 2008. Mill River, Dundarave and The Links of Crowbush Cove golf courses will all open on May 16, 2008.

“The courses have come through the winter in very good condition,” said Valerie Docherty, Minister of Tourism. “There is little, if any damage from snow, ice and snow molds which can impact early season turf playability. We anticipate that visitors and all customers will experience great course conditions this spring.”

The Callaway Golf Divine 9 at the Brudenell River Resort is scheduled to open on Friday, May 9, with the Callaway Golf Performance Center of Atlantic Canada opening Tuesday, May 6, 2008.

“Prince Edward Island has been consistently voted Canada’s number one golf destination by highly regarded sport publications such as SCOREGolf,” Docherty said. “Through the efforts of all stakeholders, golf in Prince Edward Island is now a well-recognized and nationally respected golf destination.”

Golf is a key component of Prince Edward Island’s tourism industry. In 2007, the total rounds played at all Golf PEI member courses was approximately 361,000 rounds.

Reservations can be made by calling the Toll Free Reservation Centre at 1-800-235-8909 or online at www.golflinkspei.com.
